ARTCRAWL – 2023

Bridging Borders Through Art

In October 2023, I had the privilege of not only showcasing my work but also curating the Art Beyond Borders exhibition as part of North Van Art Crawl. This exhibition was more than just a display of artworks—it was a cultural dialogue, a space where Persian artists came together to share their stories, visions, and artistic expressions with a wider audience.

As a curator, my goal was to bring Persian artists into a new landscape, creating a bridge between heritage and contemporary perspectives. Each artist carried a unique voice, yet together, we formed a collective narrative—one that spoke of identity, migration, tradition, and reinvention.

For my own contribution, I presented one of my Mehrabs and Shams—works deeply rooted in reflection, light, and spiritual geometry. The Mehrab, with its fragmented mirrors, invited viewers to confront their own reflections, while Shams, inspired by the poetry of Rumi, captured the essence of transformation and radiance. These pieces stood as portals—windows into both the self and the unseen.

Art Beyond Borders was not just an exhibition; it was an exploration of what it means to belong, to create, and to see beyond the visible. Through curation and artistic expression, I aimed to foster a conversation between cultures, perspectives, and reflections—both literal and metaphorical.
